Norwegian Rune Inscription 1600–1900

In the genuine runic tradition, until c. 1500, runes were a living script with many uses. The c. 200 runic inscriptions in Norway from the 1600s until 1900s do not represent a continuation of the genuine tradition but rather an artificial recreation. The forms of the "modern" runic letters derive from presentations in books. The inscriptions conform to norms for Latin-letter script.
