Both the Trøndelag farmhouse and the indoor exhibition
"The 50s revisited" focuse on the 1950s Photos, artefacts and texts invite the public to experience a decade 50 years ago. The exhibition reflects both how we imagine this decade and what everyday life really was like.
From our collections we highlight the Dagbladet photo archives and the Norwegian Ethnological Research. The Dagbladet archives contain news photos from 1950 to 1970. Norwegian Ethnological Research is a archive of oral history also focusing on contemporary culture and daily life.
The exhibition displays the cultural history of the 20th Century. It connects the Open Air Museum with the indoor exhibitions thus revitalizing the museum’s collections
The 50s were a time of both innocence, optimistic belief in the future, and fear of communism and the nuclear bomb. The War was over and the ountry was being rebuilt.
